Potayto-Potahto, LLC v. Visa Inc.

This putative class action challenges the credit card fees that Visa and Mastercard charge merchants across the United States. The lawsuit alleges that Visa and Mastercard, together with their member banks, have kept those fees artificially high by setting default interchange fees and enforcing rules that make it difficult for merchants to negotiate lower fees or steer customers toward cheaper payment options.

The case seeks damages for merchants that accepted Visa or Mastercard credit cards beginning January 25, 2019. It also challenges a provision in an earlier class action settlement that purports to release Visa and Mastercard from antitrust claims arising through August 2028.
